Historically, media and advertising have been a mystery to people who don’t have contacts in the industry.

And, when you think about it, how can we expect young people to apply for jobs in an industry they don’t understand?

Here at Goodstuff, we believe that creativity and invention come from everywhere, so fishing from the same talent pool has a negative impact on the diversity of talent and diversity of innovation.

That’s why we’re setting out to change this.

Through our Do the Right Thing councils, we’ve been on a mission to raise awareness, understanding, and knowledge of what our industry does and how individuals can access these careers by finding a way to make media education more accessible in schools. Consequently, we are announcing a new and exciting partnership with YourGamePlan, which will offer a bespoke module on media and advertising to all school students as part of their PSHE lessons.

The digital e-learning platform is free for schools to help ensure all those of school leaver age are career-ready, regardless of whether they are choosing to go to university. YourGamePlan targets state schools and schools with a certain level of free school meal quota but all schools can have access to the platform with a mission of ensuring that every student has the confidence and support they need to make the best decision about their future when they leave school (sounds like some pretty good stuff to us!)

We will work alongside YourGamePlan to tailor a module to educate students on the world of media and advertising as a career. Completing the module results in a CPD qualification and access for the students and companies to connect on future opportunities.

Ben Hayes, our Co-Founder sums it up as “Fostering and nurturing new, diverse talent for our industry has always been vital and is more important now than ever. YourGamePlan is a fantastic opportunity to open our industry up to new groups of young people, after all as they say how can we expect young people to apply for jobs in industries they don’t understand. We are really excited to be involved in this partnership and to take steps towards our long-term goal of making media and advertising accessible to all” we couldn’t agree more Ben.
